Candy Spelling: Tori Killed Her Father

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Candy Spelling is so not sweet.

In a new interview, Tori Spelling’s mom is blaming the death of her husband , mega-producer Aaron Spelling, on her estranged  daughter, saying that it was all the heartache that Tori caused that lead to his demise.

“I’ve always been trying to work on the relationship [with Tori],” Candy told 94.7 WMAS. “I don’t know what the anger is. My daughter one day decided that she wasn’t speaking to my husband, myself and my son and that’s how it’s continued for the last, oh gosh, four or five years.”

Ready? Brace yourselves.

“It was sad because that’s what killed my husband actually,” she had the nerve to say. “He just didn’t want to live after that. You know, He had done everything … he could possibly do for his daughter and she wanted no part of him once he couldn’t do anything for her.”

To quote my girl Jacki, “Who SAYS that?”

It’s just so wrong and makes me feel so bad for Tori. I wouldn’t talk to that woman either. Ever.

Susan Boyle, the Britain’s Got Talent singing sensation has gotten so much attention since Susan’s first appearance on the show. It’s only right to post at least a couple of Susan’s really great quotes. Boyle says singing for the Royal family is a dream come true for her and you bet she’s going to do that.

more photos of Susan and her quotes below..

I was slightly brain damaged at birth, and I want people like me to see that they shouldn’t let a disability get in the way. I want to raise awareness - I want to turn my disability into ability.
Singing for royalty is a dream of mine - I’d absolutely love to sing for the Queen at the Royal Variety Show. All the contestants are very good. I will just have to do my best and see what happens.

Never let anything becomes a hurdle in what you want to become in life. We can all do it -  make our dreams come true!

Brown insists he won’t quit as election rout looms

PM attempts to steady party and move on from expenses scandal

Gordon Brown today tried to draw the poison from the ongoing scandal over MPs’ expenses as a remarkable ICM poll of election voting intentions pushed Labour into third place for the first time in almost 25 years.

After 10 days of lying low, the prime minister finally attempted to establish a clear way forward, setting out a code of conduct for MPs and insisting that he would not step aside, regardless of the scale of defeat for Labour in this week’s local and European elections.

Though Brown continued to insist that he would reject any cabinet attempt to persuade him to retire, one leading rebel said yesterday that the weekend’s polls confirmed his belief that either “Gordon goes or the Labour party does”. The rebel said he had not come across a single voice in England and Wales supporting the prime minister, though Brown continued to enjoy the support of Scottish MPs.

Brown only has a short while to inject new purpose into his party, with many MPs using the days between now and Thursday’s polls to decide whether to fall in behind him or join a push to oust him.

However, asked on BBC1’s Andrew Marr show today whether he would stand aside if cabinet members said it would help Labour’s chances at a general election, Brown replied: “No, because I am dealing with the issues at hand. I am dealing with the economy every day.”

His challenge was made more difficult yesterday with a sequence of opinion polls suggesting historically bad results in this week’s elections. An ICM poll for the Sunday Telegraph of voting intentions in a general election put Labour on 22 points, 18 behind the Conservatives (on 40 points) and three behind the Liberal Democrats on 25 – the first time since 1985 that Labour has plunged so low in an ICM survey.

Brown hinted at an end to the current source of public outrage – the generous MP resettlement allowances – suggesting that the independent Kelly commission looking at MPs’ salaries and due to report in the autumn would end their so-called “golden goodbyes”.

He said: “I don’t think that when the Kelly committee reports this thing will still be like it is.” Saying that recent claims had offended his “Presbyterian conscience”, he outlined a new system to “clean up” politics and all institutions that rely on public funds, including the NHS and the BBC. The prime minister hopes the plans may be inserted into the constitutional renewal bill due in parliament this year.

It is thought likely to include minimum service commitments to constituents, with those who break it facing a possible fine, being “named and shamed”, or even ejected from their seats.

Brown said of the reforms: “[They] cannot be gimmicks. It’s got to be serious, it has got to be ordered, and it has got to be done in a calm way. What I have seen offends my Presbyterian conscience. What I have seen is something that is appalling. I did not expect to see instance where there are clear cases which maybe have to be answered to for fraud.”

The last four years’ worth of receipts submitted by all MPs are currently being scrutinised by an independent committee of auditors. Brown has also set up a Labour party “star chamber” which is hearing the cases of backbenchers David Chaytor and Ian Gibson. Last week two of their colleagues, also in front of the panel, removed themselves from proceedings by announcing that they would stand down at the next general election.

At the weekend, the health secretary, Alan Johnson, who has been repeatedly tipped as preparing to step into the prime minister’s shoes, warned Labour activists that the party would be the most badly affected by the expenses scandal when the election results come in on Friday.

The party faces the ignominy of losing all its county councils across England, with the Tories confident of taking control of Lancashire and Staffordshire while robbing Labour of overall control in the other two, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Backbenchers believe the prime minister’s aides are planning to outfox any backbench coup and expect Brown to hold a reshuffle of his cabinet on Friday which would make more difficult the organisation of a challenge. One said: “It will be difficult to get on side ministers who have within the last few hours agreed to take part in a new government.”

Meanwhile, the bullishness of the Tory leader, David Cameron, who has sought to articulate public outrage over MPs’ expenses, was pricked yesterday when a Sunday newspaper alleged that he had paid off a loan of £75,000 on his London home after buying a second home in Oxfordshire on which he could claim the second home allowance.

Though he defended an arrangement whereby all of his mortgage appeared to be on the property for which he could claim allowances, he said he would accept the finding of his party’s scrutiny panel.

Stepping Out For A Bit — 21 Down/31 to Go! [ me ]

Considering it’s technically the last week of summer, I’m proud to say I was able to get out of the house at least this week. Not for me though. I’m going to enjoy this hopefully temporary state of unemployment till after my brother [info] _lexizzle leaves for Singapore again. This leaves me one more month give or take before I have to start worrying about a job.

And because [info] searchtheskies is awesome and there is truth in her advertising, go and check this out! A big WELCOME to my new friends!

The Easiest Multi-Fandom Friending Meme You Will Ever Fill Out

Lastly, I’ve got ONE (1) Dreamwidth Invite again. Anyone want it? I haven’t actually used mine. I don’t know what to do with it, really. Just holler if you want it! TAKEN! SO FAST!

Monday

[+] Saw Ballet Shoes which is really adorable and such sad ‘feel-good’ BBC movie. I love those Brit films so much!

[+] Breezed through reading Persuasion despite the long nap I had. It’s a surprisingly really easy read. I’m thisclose to finishing all of Austen’s works.

[+] [info] mellowdee gave me the cutest Virtual Gift ever!!!! Thanks so much for my boba tea!!! now I really want to go get some!!!!

Tuesday

[+] Caught Bridge To Terabithia which I wouldn’t watch but because Zooey’s in it (as the adorable music teacher), I actually stuck around. Such a sad film. I was in tears in the end.

[+] Since I finished all of Austen and am too tired to move on to an actual book, I ended up reading more fic! Lovely. By Molly’s rec, I got hooked on If Love Could Light a Candle and some good ‘ol Mr. Horrible . Enjoyed both immensely.

Wednesday

[+] I drove my grand aunt and my grandma to the aiport (a first for me!) and luckily there was no traffic. it’s funny though cause my grandma has a tendency to get really worked up over NOTHING so I was afraid she was going to get a heart attack from getting so angry over nothing in the car. I had to tell her to calm down cause I had no intentions of going to the hospital.

[-] My parents left for Baguio for their 27th wedding anniversary and I know that my mom is waaaay past getting pregnant or anything but I always fear they’ll come home and tell me I’m about to have my 7th sibling. Nightmare, I tell you.

Thursday

[+] Woke up to madness in Twilight fandom. The Italy shoot had spawned a gazillion photos of Edward(naked)/Bella(running) reunion and I didn’t know what to do between that and reading an update from The Office . Great way to start your day. I’d rather this much excitement not happen again though before noon time, because my heart cannot take it.

[+] Watched Boy A possibly the saddest movie ever, but so beautiful and so moving. Plus ANdrew Garfield is really adorable in it.

[+] Dropped by the radio station and boarded with Rain from 6 to 9. It felt good to be back again even if I felt rusty behind the microphone!

Friday

Not Where the Party is At (Out with High School Barkada — Lee, Iz, Hannah and me!) Photo courtesy of me

[+] So on my unintentional Chris Pine flick fest, I watched Blind Dating which was really cute and really sweet. Plus it’s nice to see Chris with short hair again.

[+] My friend Hannah is already employed! Oh god, I feel pressured. But her first party (she handles events for a radio station) was tonight and we decided to go for support. But as Iza , Lee nor I are party people, it was the funniest thing ever. I had a tequilla sunrise (thanks [info] explainingsound for the suggestion! it was good!)

[+] We ended up having coffee though afterward. We somehow felt much more comfortable in Starbucks than in the club. We’re such kids losers. Also watched Terminator Salvation which I surprisingly enjoyed with Lee before our ‘party’

Saturday

Feeling Girls Day Out — Where the working girls treat the unemployed to a foot pampering and dinner! Photo courtesy of me

[+] Stayed up till the morning thanks to that 14-second 8second clip of New Moon . Oh fandom, why do you do this to me?

[+] Got invited by Nikki to go get a pedicure with her and Pamy at Nail Spa and it felt divine! Though I’m not fond of people touching my feet, the massage and scrub was just sooooo wonderful. I would so go back again if I had that much money.

[+] Had dinner at this noodle place we ate in before at Shangri-La but I keep forgetting the name. Sukiyaki and green mango salad. Heaven. I really love being treated by the working girls which scares me as I am supposed to be one of them soon and thus no more treats for me.

Sunday

[-] Our cute priest gave a better homily this week and I was so happy about the change when my brothers told me he was only going to be here for three weeks - not sure how many of those weeks are done already. This sort of makes me sad. Plus the slow internet also makes me infuriated. What is wrong with the Internet?!?!

[+] It was raining the whole day so I wasn’t really feeling going out but I brought Nikki and Miguel home to their house — surprisingly in spite of the rain, there wasn’t any traffic at all. KFC for dinner? Perfect way to end the week.

Is has been unveiled that Dr. Dre will front Doctor Pepper’s newest TV ad campaign, called ‘Trust Me, I’m a Doctor’. Dre will also be using the ads to hype up his new album, Detox, and his Beats By Dre headphones.

The ads premiere on Monday, and feature Dre saying the following;

‘Scientific tests prove when you drink Dr. Pepper slow, the 23 flavors taste even better. For me, slow always produces a hit. Slower is better - trust me, I’m a doctor.’

A little corny? Yes. Do we like it? You bet. Do we want some Doctor Pepper? No, we’ve got Coca Cola.

Los Angeles Just Got Hit With A Twilight Twister of Awesome

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Kristin Stewart, Rob Pattinson and Ashley Greene got into LAX yesterday after a long flight from Germany. I can practically hear the screaming fans from here, and I live all the way in Pittsburgh. I wonder if the other people on the flight knew they were on the plane?

Michael Jackson Reportedly Battling Skin Cancer

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Michael Jackson may be forced to cancel more concerts as he reportedly battles skin cancer.

The “Thriller” singer - who has already had to postpone the first four dates of his 50-night residency at London’s O2 arena - may have to undergo intense radiotherapy treatment meaning he will not be fit to perform for the scheduled dates in July.

A source close to Jackson - who is said to have already had potentially fatal growths removed from his nose and arm - told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “Michael has a devil of a decision. The temptation is to go for treatment which will allow him to perform.”

“The last thing he wants to do is let his fans down. But it may be that radiation is still needed. That can have nasty side effects and leave him unable to sing.”
